Fern – 4-5 year old female Yorkshire Terrier

Fern is a 4-5 year old female Yorkshire Terrier. She came to us from the pound as an unclaimed stray, her coat was in terrible condition full of dreadlocks which is why she is looking a little on the moth eaten side! Her coat will come back and she will once again be transformed into a beauty. She is still quite nervous initially but once settled she loves a lap to cuddle. Fern can be nervous when new people come into the home and she can be quite full on, she will need continued socialisation to help her overcome her fears.

As those that have been following Fern will know, she has a Laryngeal Web, the only issues this poses to Fern are her inability to bark as a normal dog does. She does emit a small sound so you are aware but it is a very limited sound, she also passes a little squeaky wind each time she attempts to bark. This sounds very similar to a squeaky toy and brings much hilarity to most visitors. We will discuss in full the implications of her Web, with suitable homes however there will be no need for further intervention or investigations or ongoing health issues.

Fern lives for cuddles and must be homed with owners who are around for most of the day, she is fine to be left for shopping trips but would not cope with prolonged periods without her humans. She is good with other dogs and does like to have someone to cuddle up with, she is happy to lap share and benefits from having another similar sized canine companion to help her confidence.

If you have previously applied for Fern we will consider your applications, there is no need to reapply. Fern is being fostered in Aldershot Hampshire. She has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and is up to date with flea and worming treatments. Fern has also had a full dental and we will be happy to share her medical history with her new owners.
