Barney – 12 month old male Shih Tzu cross Chihuahua

Barney is a 12 month old male Shih Tzu cross Chihuahua. He is an adorable tiny little lad who weighs approx. 3.4kg, he arrived as a stray so we have limited history for this ball of loveliness. He is just adorable and so friendly with everyone he meets. We cannot imagine this lad will be waiting long for his forever home.

Barney can be a little OTT with his meet and greets but a little further training will soon settle this lad. He has made good progress in foster and in essence is just an exuberant pup. He loves people.  Due to limited history Barney can be homed with children 10+.

Barney should be fine to live with cats, for the most part he is smaller than them so provided dog savvy and bold he should be fine. He loves other dogs and we feel will benefit from being homed with at least one other similar sized playmate. A good role model for this young lad would be great. He is a little nervous around much larger dogs but no aggression just submission.

Barney is fit as a fiddle and full of beans. He is great in the home, clean as a whistle and not destructive, loves to curl up on the sofa or bed share with his foster pals. Barney loves being out and about but is quite nervous of walking in high traffic areas, he will need continued exposure at his pace to learn to cope. He loves his walks in the woods and is friendly and welcoming with all. Doesn’t pull too much on lead as only a tiny lad.

He is looking for new owners who have at least one other similar sized canine companion and humans who are around for most of the day. He loves his cuddles but is an active lad who will need plenty of walks and stimulation. He will benefit from a little further training as he is young and lacks a little in his manners and special awareness.

Barney has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and has also had two retained puppy teeth removed. He is up to date with flea and worming treatment.

Potential adopters will be expected to travel to Ongar Essex to meet Barney.
